This C&G2396 is a Level 4 qualification put in place to replace the C&G2400. This course will provide you with the knowledge required to design an electrical installation, taking account of requirements with BS7671 & the associated Guidance Notes concerning environmental influences, cable management, cable routing, selecting equipment and suitability for purpose.

The City & Guilds 2396 Electrical Design course is theory based and is intended for electrical personnel who are responsible for the quality of the design, the specification, installation, and the inspection and testing processes.

This City & Guilds course helps to develop the essential knowledge and techniques needed to professionally design and commission electrical systems. The ability to correctly design and the skills of a designer must be implemented before new installations are constructed as well as when additions or alterations to existing installations are required.

This Award is ideal for electricians who already hold the 2395 or 2391 qualification and who wish to expand their professional knowledge and skills and who are working with minimal or no supervision.

It covers the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 & addresses, in particular, the implications of the Wiring Regulations for Electrical Installations (BS7671:2008 –Ammd’ 2011). It demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you will need, such as designing and installing electrical systems, appropriate legislation and verifying installations.
