The first Page of the Report deals with the details of the job, the address, the clients name and the purpose, followed by the ‘scope’ of the testing taking place.
It Is worth noting that the foot of this page is where the grade is inserted. This will either be SATISFACTORY or UNSATISFACTORY grade for the installation overall.
Page 2 is where any observations or recommendations are written. They must be coded C1, C2 or C3.
Put simply the Codes are as follows:
C1: Dangerous Condition observed
C2: Potentially Dangerous item observed
C3: Non-Compliance –Improvement recommended (but not necessarily Dangerous)
Under Amendment 3 there is also a Code for
FI : which stands for ‘Further Investigation’ is required
These codes and their meanings are explained at the foot of the page.
There is a section at the top of page three which asks you to outline the ‘General Condition’ of the installation. While the comments in this section should give an ‘overview’ of the installation being inspected, if there are any areas of the installation which do not comply fully with current regulations this is an opportunity to note it as a general comment. It is also a good idea to say why the installation is seen as SAFE or UNSAFE in this box, in as sustinct a way as possible.
The bottom of Page three is where the Supply General Characteristics are listed. These are covered in Part 3 of the Wiring Regulations. This section is purely for information purposes, and if any of the general characteristics are seen as deficient they are not noted here - they can however be noted in the next section
The next three pages of the Report are the ‘Checklist’ which came about after Amendment 2 to the 17th Edition. It has been written in this order to ensure all aspects of the installation are inspected, and you are required to code any observations made.
Once again you must code any observations or non-compliances as a C1, C2 or C3.
If you follow this section closely it will lead you through the inspections that must be carried out.
If any or Not Applicable you should enter NA against the Item No.
NOTE: When you put an Outcome as a Code in this section in Easy Cert, the description & recommendation are automatically noted on Page 2
Page 8 of an EICR is the Schedule of Circuit Details. In legal terms this is a separate document to the rest of the certificate (as is the Schedule of test results) but it will be submitted as one complete document to the client.
Page 9 is the Schedule of Circuit Details. In legal terms this too is a separate document, and it is where all the instrument readings are collated under their various titles.
The report should also have a GUIDANCE TO RECIPIENT attached to the final document explaining the Codes, the need to retain the document and the necessity to have testing carried out at regular intervals
