The 2394 is a replacement for the 2392, and aimed at electricians with a limited experience of Inspection & Testing.

Once achieved, delegates would be able to Inspect, Test & sign off their own installations.

Candidates who achieve the 2394 qualification could progress on to the City and Guilds 2395: the Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.

Periodic testing will not be covered in this qualification.

There are 3 examinations involved -

  • PC based multiple choice examination having 40 questions, is 1 hour 20 mins long, and is closed book, with instant result.

  • Closed book written exam, 2 hours in duration. Date to be confirmed 
    (results may take up to 6 weeks)

  • Practical Assessment (to be arranged after course completion)

Practices and Legislation for the periodic inspection, testing and condition reporting of electrical installations.  

  • Requirements for inspecting, and recording the condition of electrical installations

  • Requirements for completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations

  • Requirements for completing the periodic inspection of electrical installations

  • Differences between periodic inspection and initial verification

  • Requirements for testing before circuits are live.

  • Requirements for testing live installations

  • Understanding and interpreting test results

  • Requirements for the completion of electrical installation condition reports

  • Carrying out inspection of electrical installations prior to them being put into service

  • Produce a condition report with recording observations and classification 

In order to claim the full 2395 qualification, students must complete the following 3 units: 

  • On-line multiple choice test –multiple choice, on-line (40 questions).

  • Written test  - 2 hours. Dates and times are pre-set by City & Guilds

Practical/theory Assessments 1.  Visual inspection (30 minutes) – closed book. 2.  Electrical Condition Report and test (1 hours 30 minutes plus 30 minutes to complete paperwork) – open
